Denise Wicks
Proud and independent, Denise Wicks (Diane Parish) tends to shout first, think later, especially when her family's involved. She's brought up daughters Chelsea and Libby mostly on her own after standing up to her abusive, alcoholic husband, Owen.

2006 Starts a romance with car dealer Kevin Wicks. Ex-husband Owen Turner turns up, beats her then nearly kills their daughter, Libby. Thinks Patrick Trueman might be her father but discovers he isn't.
2007 Marries Kevin Wicks and discovers on her wedding day that Kevin had slept with his ex, Shirley Carter. Daughter Chelsea is jailed for six months after lying about Sean Slater's involvement in a violent attack on Patrick. Kevin dies in a car crash.
2008 Goes on an extended holiday with Carly Wicks. Returns to Walford and is horrified to find Chelsea is using cocaine. Moves her family into Patrick Trueman's house. Reunited with Lucas Johnson, Chelsea's father.
2009 Takes in Lucas's son, Jordan. Lucas's wife Trina Johnson makes trouble for the couple. Suspected of murdering Trina.
Oct 2009 Marries Lucas despite all the bad feeling.
July 2010 Is horrifed when Lucas admits to her that he killed Owen. DI Kelly questions her about the murder, but provides an alibi and also covers for Lucas. Then he reveals he was there when Trina died. An agitated Lucas abducts and strangles her and appears to throw her into the canal. But he actually holds her hostage in the basement of a flat.
