Kara was born in Basildon, Essex, in 1983 and grew up in Southend. She has been acting since she was seven and her first screen role was in EastEnders aged 12, as a school friend of Sonia Jackson. Kara has appeared in many TV dramas since then, including Dream Team, Mile High, Night and Day and Teachers.
Kara has a younger sister, Hannah, who is also a successful actress. Kara dated Busted’s James Bourne for seven years, but is now seeing fellow EastEnder James Alexandrou.
