1996Turns up for the wedding of daughter April. Refuses to give other daughter Carol away at her own nuptials to Alan Jackson mainly because Alan is black.
1999Carol tracks him down to a care home in Brighton with her new bloke, Dan. Jim moves to Albert Square and is left to look after grandkids Sonia and Robbie when Carol leaves.
2000Flirts with half the women in Walford, including Pauline Fowler and Dot Cotton but without success.
2001Proposes to Dot, whos warmed to him by now.
2002Marries Dot on Valentines Day.
2003Is tempted to play away while Dots out of Walford after the attentions of pensioner Doris but realises that Dot is the woman he wants to spend his life with.
2006Grandson Bradley comes to live with him. Estranged son Max arrives with his family and Dot encourages them to make up.

John was born on 25 August 1939 in Brentford, Middlesex.
He started acting with an amateur drama group performing in pubs and he got his first break on TV in 1972. John hasnt looked back since, appearing has appearing in many films, TV series and stage shows.
In 1988, John won a top stage acting gong, an Olivier award, for the best performance in a musical for his role in West End show Kiss Me Kate. John's TV appearances include stints in Coronation Street, Rumpole Of The Bailey and Birds Of A Feather.
John finally threw off his bachelor status in 2002 when he married wife Edna at the age of 63.
