Born on 25 October, 1958 in Islington, North London, Phil joined the Anna Scher Theatre School as a young child and he first found fame in tough BBC drama Scum in 1977.
He went on to star in cult mod film Quadrophenia, and later appeared in many other films and TV shows, as well as becoming a successful stage actor. Phil also became a part-time pop star when he provided a voiceover on Blur’s hit single ‘Parklife’ in 1994.
Phil lives with his long-term partner Jan Stevens and their teenage daughter Ella in North London.
