Rita was born on 10 March 1977 in Essex. EastEnders is Rita’s first major TV role as she had only had bit parts in various shows including Mile High and Dream Team before being asked to play Roxy. Rita, whose uncle is Sir Alan Sugar, originally had her heart set on being a singer. She had some success in two girlbands, Girls@Play and Charli, who supported Blue on tour, but she gave it up to concentrate on acting.
Rita reportedly dated Robbie Williams in her girlband days, but she is now married to hairdresser Theo Silverston and they have twin girls, Jaimee and Maiya, born in January 2006.
