Jason Donovan: 'I'm proud of my 4x4'

Jason Donovan has revealed that he gets abuse for driving a 'Chelsea tractor'.

The 39-year-old actor, who makes his TV comeback in new ITV1 soap Echo Beach on Thursday night, defended owning a 4x4, saying he needs it because he lives in the country.

Jason told The Guardian: "I own a 4x4 and I'm proud of it. We get lots of fundamentalists putting stickers on it, saying things like 'Wancar' and other rude stuff. I'd really like to have a conversation with one of those people: I can't stand it when people get militant about things."

He added: "We live out in the country and we need that 4x4. My wife started to get a complex about it, but when it flooded round Oxford last summer I said to her, 'Now you know why we've got it'."

But it seems Jason and his family are green conscious in other ways.

"We take our son to school everyday on a pushbike," he added.
