Moving Wallpaper to get a second series

ITV1's critically praised new sitcom Moving Wallpaper has been recommissioned, although the future of its sister show Echo Beach is up in the air.

The shows haven't been ratings successes, although Moving Wallpaper has perfomed significantly better than Echo Beach.

According to the Media Guardian, ITV executives met with the shows' creator Tony Jordan last week, with the broadcaster confirming that Moving Wallpaper, which is a behind-the-scenes take on life for the fictional production team working on the Echo Beach soap, will return next year.

"We're delighted with the show's performance," an ITV spokeswoman said. "It has done exactly what it was meant to do in bringing different viewers to the channel."

There is some confusion on where to take Echo Beach. As Moving Wallpaper relies on it for its storylines, it's unlikely to disappear. It may return with fewer episodes.

An ITV source said: "The two shows are interlinked, so ITV would still want to continue with it."
