Emmerdale: Three cliffhangers for Mark's exit

Emmerdale bosses have teased viewers with three possible cliffhangers for bigamist Mark Wylde's departure from the show.

Mark, played by Maxwell Caulfield, will make his exit in the New Year, and new pictures show various potential endings to the character's stint in the village.

In one, he poses with first wife Faye Lamb (Kim Thomson), ready to start a new life with her; in another, he is seen with a suitcase in hand, about to leave both Faye and other wife Natasha (Amanda Donohoe) behind; and in a third, he looks as if he has been caught by surprise, indicating his fate has been decided by someone else.

High-flying couple Mark and Natasha first appeared in Emmerdale in January.

Some months later, Natasha discovered her husband was already married to Faye, and had a son with her, but the rest of their families are so far unaware of his secret. As time has progressed, Mark has become unable to resist Faye, and the pair have begun an affair.

Soap bosses promise a "sensational" start to 2010, when Mark's lies will be exposed in an "explosive climax".

An Emmerdale spokesman said: "Mark's world is going to be torn apart when the truth is revealed in a dramatic showdown which will have devastating consequences for everyone involved."

Series producer Gavin Blyth said: "We could see history repeated and Mark ditch the Dales for a brand new life. Or will he keep his promise and leave the village with ex-flame Faye?

"Or could something far more sinister rid Mark of his demons forever?"
