James predicts 'rocky road' for the Bartons

Emmerdale star James Thornton has predicted that John Barton will find it tough to forgive his wife Moira, following her illicit affair with Cain Dingle.

After getting wound up with all the hints that bad boy Cain had been dropping, John - played by James - decides to confront his wife to find out what really happened, only to reel from shock when he discovers the truth.

"John is very black and white. He thinks it's over," he told Inside Soap.

"He's made the decision that what she's done is so bad that she has to go. John's heartbroken and in shock. Of all the people to cheat with, it's Cain. Everyone hates him - he's the worst person out of everyone to have something like that over them."

James, who is married to Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page in real life, reckons the Bartons will have to work hard if they want to make their marriage work.

"It's going to be a rocky road for them all," James continued.

"The children all react differently. Holly is firmly on John's side, Adam's supportive of Moira and Hannah is on the middle ground."
