Patrick Mower: Rodney needs a rich woman

Emmerdale star Patrick Mower has said that his screen alter ego Rodney Blackstock needs some romance in his life - and would be happy if he met a wealthy woman.

The 73-year-old, whose character is set to be involved in a confrontation against scheming Carl King, revealed his hopes for Rodney to Inside Soap magazine.

"It'd be nice if he met a wealthy lady - Rodney is happy when he's a millionaire!" Patrick said.

And he joked that there might even be time for the character to become a father again.

"I've heard that the actor Charles Dance is about to become a dad again at the age of 65, so how about Rodney becoming an older father?" he said. "He just needs to find a rich young lady to have the baby with!"

Patrick added that he was excited to see his character involved in a big storyline, and is hoping for more decent plots in the future.

"Rodney has been on the back burner for some time now," he pointed out. "I think we should see more of him this year."
