If Betty Eagleton (Paula Tilbrook) is not gossiping, she's eavesdropping - not much gets past her! She can be a good friend, too, though.

1994 Eric Pollard tries to make recently widowed Betty sell her land but she refuses. Hooks up with Seth Armstrong, her husband's friend, and they plan a wedding but as their relationship is platonic they have a 1940s-themed party instead.
1999 Former lover Reggie turns up for the village panto. Betty is terrified, as he knows she was a stripper in her younger years.
2000 Tells Reggie she once aborted their baby. He tries to blackmail her over her past but she admits all to a sympathetic Seth, who hounds Reggie out of the village.
2003 Seth goes to Australia to stay with former villager Kathy Bates.
2004 Goes to visit Seth in Australia.
2005 Devastated when Seth dies on his way back to Emmerdale.
2006 Angers Alan by bringing his estranged son, Terence, to the village. Starts seeing Sandy Thomas, father of vicar Ashley. A jealous Alan Turner tries to kiss her but she knocks him back.
2007 Her dog Charlie dies.
2008 Sandy leaves. Shares a kiss with Alan Turner.
2009 Starts to produce chutney for the Home Farm shop.
2010 Betty is horrified to learn that a body's been found at Home Farm, especially when it turns out to be Mark Wylde.
