1999 Visits daughter Bernice, the then Woolpack landlady, and causes a few raised eyebrows when she flirts with Eric Pollard and Alan Turner.
2000 Sells up her B&B, moves to the village and buys into The Woolpack. Shares a kiss with Jack Sugden. Ex-hubby Rodney turns up for Bernice's wedding to Vicar Ashley Thomas.
2002 Has a one-night-stand with Rodney. Has a brief relationship with builder Mack but soon calls it off. Later set up on a blind date with Jack and they become an item.
2004 Sister Val turns up. Accepts a proposal from Jack, but has second thoughts when she discovers she has colon cancer. Rodney wants her back but she marries Jack in September. Undergoes an op and is given a colostomy. Discovers ex-husband Rodney is father of Val's son Paul and disowns her sister.
2005 Given the all-clear from cancer.
2006 Nearly killed in the King Development house collapse. Falls out with Woolpack co-owner Louise Appleton, who sells her share of the pub - to Val!
2007 Falls in love with Billy Hopwood but does no more than kiss him. Chooses to stay with Jack but when Jack finds out about her feelings for Billy he leaves her.
2008 Jack has gone to Spain and Diane does her best for his kids, Victoria and Andy. Horrified when she realises Andy has been beating wife Jo.
2009 Heartbroken when Jack dies. Helps Andy when he has a breakdown. Buys Val's share of pub.
2010 Meets middle-aged charmer Charlie, falls for him and decides to sell up and move to France to spend dying Charlie's last months with him. Realises too late Charlie is a conman and is left penniless after he cleans her out.
