1994 Evil Eric Pollard tries to make a widowed Betty sell her land but she refuses. Hooks up with Seth Armstrong and they plan a wedding but as their relationship is platonic they have a 1940s-themed party instead.
1999 Former lover Reggie turns up for the village panto. Betty is terrified as he knows she was a stripper in her younger years.
2000 Tells Reggie she once aborted their baby. He tries to blackmail her over her past but she admits all to a sympathetic Seth, who hounds Reggie out of the village.
2003 Seth goes on an extended stay in Australia with former villager Kathy Bates. 2005 Devastated when Seth falls ill and dies on the plane home to the UK.
2006 Starts seeing vicar's dad Sandy Thomas. A jealous Alan Turner tries to kiss her but she knocks him back.

Paula was born in 1931 and she wanted to be an actress from an early age. She joined a stage school in Manchester when she was 11 and later went into rep, then becoming an assistant stage manager in Colwyn Bay.
She met her late husband Leslie Hall not long after and the couple had two children together, Greg and Gaynor. Paula decided to give up the stage to look after her young family and eased back into acting after both children had started school.
As well as several small roles in Coronation Street, Paula's other TV work includes Open All Hours, Last Of The Summer Wine, Andy Capp and Brookside.
Paula's husband Les suffered from Alzheimer's disease and died when he was 59.
