Emily was a real mouse when she first appeared in the village, after having spent years virtually locked up by her strict dad John. But the caring and considerate girl soon found her own voice and won’t be pushed around by anyone.

1999 Escapes the clutches of her controlling old-fashioned dad John to date local lad Butch Dingle.

2000 Marries one true love Butch Dingle on his deathbed in hospital after he’s involved in a bus crash.

2001 Starts dating churchgoer Ed Willis, but loses her virginity to Paddy Kirk when Ed won’t oblige in the bedroom.

2002 Talks hubby Paddy into becoming foster parents.

2003 Fosters teen tearaway Debbie, and is shocked to discover that that the scheming Charity Dingle is her natural mother.

2005 Learns that Paddy has had an affair with her best mate Viv Windsor and throws him out. Moves in with the Dingles and takes on Debbie’s baby Sarah, but leaves the village with her when Debbie refuses to have the baby around.

2006 Returns to the village with baby Sarah and hands her back to her dad, Andy, after being tracked down by former curate Ethan Blake.

Kate McGregor

Kate was born in 1972 and went to drama college, later taking on several stage roles. Emmerdale is Kate’s first TV role. She took 10 months maternity leave in 2006 to have her first baby.
