Hollyoaks' Gemma: Fans want Carmel to leave Calvin
17/03/2009 - 14:07

Gemma Merna says Hollyoaks' fans have been urging her not to let her character Carmel McQueen go back to Calvin Valentine in the soap.
The actress also reveals that viewers can expect plenty of twists and turns for the couple in forthcoming episodes of the Channel 4 show.
Gemma said: "There are a few more ups and downs before anything serious happens, but it is kind of big stuff at the moment, yeah she has walked out on him and that's how it looks like it's going."
Later this week, Carmel takes a stand and asks Calvin for a divorce. Gemma reveals as a result of the ongoing drama between the two characters, she and co-star Ricky Whittle (pcitured) are fed up of having cross words on set.
She adds: "We were sick of having so many arguments because we get on well - we're like 'we don't wanna argue with each other today'."
Playing a couple constantly at war has it's own challenges, namely keeping the momentum going: "We just try to kind of have it different and exciting and have different things going on in the argument and playing it in different tones for it to be different for everyone."
