Joel Goonan leaves Hollyoaks

Hollyoaks villain Joel Goonan has revealed that he will be leaving the show.

The 21-year-old, who joined the Channel 4 soap in November 2008, took to Twitter to announce that he had filmed his final scenes as Gaz Bennett last week.

"So that's it. Cast/crew old and new gunna miss u all, had 3 top years and learned a lot! Much love! (sic)" he wrote.

He later added: "Thanks for all your messages x hopefully be in something else soon, fingers crossed."

Joel - who returned to screens in January following a brief exit in 2010, when Gaz was wrongly jailed for the murder of Calvin Valentine (Ricky Whittle) - has been involved in recent storylines, including a romance with Heidi Costello (Kim Tiddy) and selling illegal steroids to her son Seth, played by Miles Higson, landing him in hospital.
