Amy Barnes
Stubborn and strong-willed, Amy has a wild streak and is a very determined young lady.
2006 Loses her virginity to school bad boy Ste Hay. Falls pregnant, but keeps it secret from everyone apart from best mate Michaela McQueen. Goes joyriding with Ste and the other teens and nearly dies when Ste crashes. Ste disappears.
2007 Dates teenager Josh Ashworth. Gives birth to baby Leah in the family kitchen. Mum Kathy attempts to take control of the baby. Ste returns and moves into a council flat with Amy and the baby in the face of opposition from Amy’s family.
2008 Battered by Ste, who then lies that Leah has cancer to get sympathy money from friends. Left outcasts when the lie is revealed. Leaves Ste when he continues to hit her and she falls pregnant and moves back home with dad Mike, despite Ste’s desperate pleas.
