James Sutton

John Paul McQueen

Plays John Paul McQueen

James was born James Cook on 31 January, 1983 in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, but he grew up in the village of Sambrook in Shropshire. He started acting in primary school in school plays, but he also appeared in youth theatre and later studied drama at the Royal Welsh College in Cardiff.

After leaving drama college, James changed his surname to Sutton after his birth town, as there was another actor called James Cook. James moved to London and he won a role in Sky’s Dream Team spin-off, Dream Team 80s, as footballer Terry Glover before he was signed up for Hollyoaks.

Unlike his character, James is not gay, but he is currently single and shares a house with Claire Cooper, who plays his on-screen sister Jacqui Malota.
