Jennifer was born in 1983 and brought up in Holme Wood in Bradford, West Yorkshire. She has been acting since she was 12 and she attended the Scala Kids drama school in her hometown. Jennifer did a degree in Health and Fitness before realising that acting was her true vocation.

Before Hollyoaks, Jennifer appeared in several TV shows including kids' TV series My Parents Are Aliens and ITV dramas Where The Heart Is and At Home With The Braithwaites, as well as Yorkshire soap Emmerdale.

In between acting jobs Jennifer put her degree to good use and worked as a fitness instructor in Bradford.

Jennifer currently shares a house in Liverpool with on-screen sister Gemma Merna, who plays Carmel and she is dating Liverpool footballer Jermaine Pennant.
