John was born on November 2 1977 and grew up in Chertsey, Surrey with brother Nick, who plays his Hollyoaks' character's half-brother Tony Hutchinson.
John attended the Sylvia Young acting school in London and he had a regular role in popular children's drama Grange Hill as Neil Timpson.
John went on to star in BBC sitcom 2.4 Children and also had roles in ITV's The Bill and Sky One airline soap Mile High before joining Hollyoaks.
