2006 Falls for sensitive soul John Paul McQueen and talks him into dating her. Eats her way into the New Year when he unexpectedly dumps her.

2007 Discovers that reluctant lover John Paul is gay when he kisses Craig Dean at her 18th birthday party. Becomes bulimic and later anorexic. Sectioned after friend and fellow anorexic Melissa dies. Returns from hospital after a slow recovery and falls for Danny Valentine.

2008 Hannah’s dad Neville disapproves of Danny and she has a relapse when Danny reluctantly dumps her. They are reunited, but later split again.

Actor Profile

Emma Rigby

Emma was born 26 September, 1989 and grew up in St Helens in Merseyside. She has worked as a model and actress since she was five and she had a regular role in C4 soap Brookside as schoolboy Anthony Murray’s girlfriend Elena, as well as appearing in ITV drama Born and Bred.

Emma was in her GCSE year at St Helen’s De La Salle School when she won the role in Hollyoaks but despite the hectic filming schedule she managed to achieve nine A+ grades. Emma won the 2008 Best Actress gong at the British Soap Awards for her portrayal of Hannah’s struggle with anorexia. She currently lives at home in St Helens with her mum and dad.
