Home & Away's Lisa Gormley on Liam, Brax and panto
We caught up with HOME & AWAY star Lisa Gormley, who plays Bianca during a recent UK visit to talk Liam, Brax and British pantos!

Tell us about your UK visit?
"I actually spent Christmas in the UK this year. It was lovely to catch up with my cousin and her babies. In London, I visited the Globe Theatre and walked around Harrods, like a massive tourist! I went to see Rock Of Ages in the West End. Shane Ward, who stars in it, is my future husband. He just doesn’t know it yet!"

Is it true you were born over here?
"Yes, in Bradford. Though I haven’t been over for a while. But I’d love to work over here one day. Maybe I’ll come back to the UK and do a panto. They’re such a part of British history and the cast look like they have so much fun. I love British humour. Lynne McGranger, who plays Irene, raves about the British panto experience. So I’m going to make it happen!"

What have been your highlights since joining Home and Away?
"It will be two years since I joined the series in March 2012. Really, the whole experience has been stand-out for me. Getting the job just three months out of NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney) was amazing. And then working alongside all these absolute acting legends and trying to learn from them."

Is Liam definitely 'the one' for Bianca?
"After Liam’s recent accident, Bianca has realised that he is the only one for her. Bianca was really brought in to be Liam’s one and only. Axle Whitehead (Liam) and myself even had an onscreen chemistry test before I got the part."

Has any of the other Summer Bay hunks caught Bianca's eye?
"Obviously there is Heath, who Bianca has done the dirty with! But I have spoken to the writers... everyone... as I want to see Bianca and Brax get it on! Steve Peacocke, who plays Brax, is one of my best mates and I think he’s a phenomenal actor. We’ve done a few scenes together, which have been fun and sparky. There’s nothing in store yet for Bianca and Brax, but I’m working on it!"

The River Boys have been a massive hit...
"I live in Maroubra in Sydney where the Bra Boys are from. They’re a surf gang who the River Boys are based on. They made a documentary about their lives and became well known from that. So it’s great to see that element of Aussie culture come into the show. Whether you like or hate the River Boys, I think they are nice guys through all the badness."

Is there anything you find annoying about Bianca?
"I kind of wish she wouldn’t take herself so seriously. Ironically, that is my New Year’s resolution too. Have more fun!"

Is it true that you used to be a flight attendant?
"Yes, I worked for Quantas for two years, flying out of Heathrow. You do get some difficult passengers from time to time. You just have to smile and think, ‘Really? Is that your main concern in life right now?’ But then I had an epiphany and thought, ‘Hang on, there’s something else I want to do. I want to teach drama or act.'"
