Fletcher O'Leary bids farewell to Ramsay Street

Fletcher O'Leary has filmed his last scene on Neighbours.

The 11-year-old actor, who has played Mickey Gannon for two years, had his cast mates in tears when he made a speech about how much he'd enjoyed his time in Erinsborough, according to the official Neighbours website.

But his older colleagues, led by his on-screen uncle Steve Bastoni, had a surprise up their sleeves for him - a performance of a specially-written song to commemorate Fletcher's time on the show.

The Neighbours cast also said goodbye to Jake, the black labrador who's played Mickey's constant companion.

Contacts at the Melbourne-set show are keeping quiet about how and why the character is leaving, but the smart money has him being reunited with his parents, Kirsten and Ned, in Perth.

Fletcher's final scenes will air in Australia in July, and in early autumn in the UK.

His younger brother, Blake, will continue to play Libby's son Ben Kirk.
