Neighbours' Chris 'to become a man' in 2012

Neighbours star James Mason has revealed his character Chris Pappas is forced to grow up next year when his life is threatened.

The young mechanic, who has a budding romance with nurse Aiden, has plenty of drama in store for him in the new year.

James told the Neighbours website: "Chris survives a life-and-death situation in 2012 which brings him closer to Aiden, and so much evolves on that front. You'll see Chris become a man."

Meanwhile, James is getting ready to enjoy the Christmas break.

He said: "I'm having a very busy Christmas because I have three families to visit - my mum's side, my dad's side and my girlfriend's family - so lots of eating will be done. And I'm heading to sunny Queensland for the New Year.

"I'd love a new drum kit for Christmas, but I suspect I'll buy this one for myself."
