Neighbours' Declan swaps army for photos

Former Neighbours star James Sorensen has swapped his army career for the world of photography after suffering an injury, according to his co-star.

The actor shocked his fans when he left the soap, in which he played Declan Napier, to pursue a military career.

However Jane Hall, who played his onscreen mum Rebecca, has revealed his recent change of plans.

"I am still in touch with James. He's not with the army any more because he injured himself but he's now a professional photographer," she said.

"He's back doing bits and pieces of acting work in Australia and is pursuing other lines in the creative world as well. He's a very talented performer and I don't think he'll be wanting for opportunities."

Producers recast actor Erin Mullally in the role of Declan after James left, but both he and the character of Rebecca have now left the show.
