Neighbours' Kyle takes break after injury

Neighbours star Christopher Milligan is set to take a break from the soap after suffering a sports injury.

Christopher - who plays loveable troublemaker Kyle Canning in the show - is recovering from surgery to repair his Achilles tendon after he snapped it playing football.

According to the official Neighbours website, he will be out of action for at least five weeks.

"We've rewritten some scenes which explain Kyle's absence," producer Susan Bower told the site.

"It's part of the business," she added. "Accidents and sickness happen. You just move to plan B very quickly.

"As a former nurse, I'll be monitoring his rehabilitation," Bower joked.

Kyle became a full-time character in Neighbours after first appearing in 2008.
