The line-up for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing is beginning to take shape, according to The Sun.

The paper reports that the latest celebrity to sign up for the BBC One show is former M People singer Heather Small.

The 43-year-old – who is set to perform her song Proud at the Olympics handover concert in London on August 24 – is apparently about to go into rehearsals for the show.

And model turned TV presenter Melanie Sykes is also reported to be in the running for a place on the dancefloor.

Sykes – best known for co-presenting ITV1’s Today With Des And Mel as well as starring in the Boddingtons beer ads – is waiting for confirmation that she will be on the show, according to The Sun.

Others who have been linked to the next series include Jordan and Peter Andre, royal Zara Phillips and former EastEnder Emma Barton, aka Honey Mitchell.

cast members have been banned from appearing on the series – which will run for 16 weeks – as producers have said they cannot spare anybody for that long.

However Barton is free to take part since she has already left the soap.

The sixth series of the show is set to begin in mid-September.

Meanwhile Strictly Come Dancing co-host Tess Daly is set to join Terry Wogan as one of the presenters of this year’s Children In Need appeal, according to The Sun.

“Tess is rapidly becoming one of the big BBC faces,” a source told the paper. “She has really developed her TV talent.”
