Former S Club 7 singer Rachel Stevens will reportedly join model Lisa Snowdon and singer Heather Small in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The Daily Mirror reports that the 30-year-old has had limited solo pop fame since her group split in 2002 and has also attempted an acting career in the US. But the work has dried up.
The source who revealed she had signed for the BBC show added: “Rachel has met her dance partner. She is excited and is going to get stuck into training.
“She wants to tone up and get back the figure that won her millions of male fans in S Club. The show has done wonders for people like Kelly Brook, so Rachel is hoping it will get her back in the limelight.”
As well, the Mirror revealed that onetime George Clooney squeeze Lisa Snowden, 36, has signed up. Lisa has recently been presenting on satellite channels including Living and hopes Strictly could be the springboard to more work on terrestrial TV.
Chef Gary Rhodes and M People singer Heather Small are also reportedly booked, with model Jodie Kidd on stand-by. This week, dancers from the show – including perennials Brendan Cole and Anton Du Beke – have been meeting their celeb partners.
A BBC spokesman declined to comment on the line-up, which will be announced at the end of the month.
Strictly Come Dancing is likely to begin screening on BBC1 in late September.
