Rugby star Ben Cohen is the latest celebrity to be tipped for a spot on the Strictly dancefloor when the series returns in the autumn.

According to the Sunday Mirror the 34-year-old – part of England’s 2003 World Cup winning squad – is being viewed as the potential heart-throb of the new series.

And the paper reports that show bosses are hoping he will be as big a hit with viewers as 2012 champion Louis Smith.

“Ben is gorgeous and we have high hopes that he will be the latest Strictly pin-up,” a show source said.

“We can’t wait to see him on the dancefloor.”

If Ben does sign up he will follow a string of rugby stars who have appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, including Austin Healey, Gavin Henson, Matt Dawson and Kenny Logan.

However he admitted: “I’m a terrible dancer. It is some sight.”

Other stars tipped to take part in the show include model Abbey Clancy, pop star Sophie Ellis-Bextor, former X Factor winner Joe McElderry, Hairy Biker chef Dave Myers and TV personality Vanessa Feltz.

The full line-up will be revealed in due course.
