This Morning presenter Ruth Langsford is taking this year’s Strictly Come Dancing as more than just a bit of fun.

The long-standing Loose Women panelist told TV Times she’s aiming right for the finish line… She said: “I’m absolutely going into this to win it – why would you not? I don’t want to go out – I want to learn all the dances. Who knows, I might turn out to be brilliant!”

And given the fact that great dancing could be in Ruth’s genes, the chances of her going all the way are not that slim. Ruth Langsford said: “My parents were very good dancers, so it will be lovely to do it for them. My dad is no longer with us, but I’m sure he will be looking down. He might have even passed on some of his dancing moves.”

Ruth jumped at the opportunity to join this year’s star studded line-up and has been an avid Strictly fan for quite some time. She said: “I’m a massive fan of the show. I’ve watched every episode from the very beginning, so this is a dream.”

With the new series set to air this Saturday, preparations are bound in full swing. When asked what the scariest thing about being on the show for Ruth was she said: “Being lifted up! All of the professional dancers are so fabulous, but I hope I’m partnered with someone pretty strong…”

Perhaps it was Ruth’s practice run with Rylan that put her on edge. The pair had a pretty successful attempt at a lift on This Morning last month, but Rylan stumbled out of shot quite quickly after…

We are sure Ruth’s professional partner will take good care of her!

Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday 9 September on BBC1 at 7pm
