Pop star Sophie Ellis Bextor has become the latest celebrity reported to have signed up for Strictly Come Dancing, which is due to start in September.

According to The Sun, the singer who had a string of hits including the very apt Murder On The Dancefloor, has been signed up by the BBC1 show for £25,000. It’s thought she’ll be releasing a new album this autumn to coincide with her appearance on the dance extravaganza.

So it looks like Sophie will be joining other stars such as Hairy Biker Dave Myers and model Abbey Clancy, who have also been reported to have signed on Strictly’s dotted line.

Meanwhile, double Olympic champion swimmer Rebecca Adlington, another star strongly rumoured to be doing Strictly, has today denied on Twitter that she’s taking part.

“Unfortunately not,” she tweeted. “They didn’t want me! Will be a great show though, always is ;-)”
