Strictly Come Dancing‘s Johnny Ball has been practising his moves with temporary replacement Ian Waite after his partner Aliona Vilani suffered an ankle fracture.
Aliona – who swept to victory in the 2011 series with Harry Judd – looks likely to miss the first live shows of the series next weekend after sustaining the injury while practising a tango routine with the TV presenter.
And Ian has been drafted in to put Johnny through his paces while she recovers, and a replacement dancer is sought.
“I am so worried about Aliona and her ankle,” Johnny admitted, “after all her feet are the tools of her trade.
“I do hope it heals quickly and that she is back on the dancefloor soon. Our routine was going so well and we were all set to put the finishing touches to it.”
However he added that he and Ian had had a “great cha cha cha lesson”.
“I do hope I can do the routine justice and make Aliona happy when she sees the programme. The routine Aliona has devised is great, so whichever new dancer I get, that won’t need changing in the slightest,” Johnny said.
“I do hope I make the judges sit up and take notice, for all the right reasons.”
Aliona is likely to be out of action for at least two weeks and possibly longer – with bosses now having to find someone to take her place before the first live show on October 5.
