Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt reveals why she turned down the chance to compete on Strictly Come Dancing

With lots of speculation about which celebrities have said “yes” to Strictly Come Dancing for the new series, we can reveal one celebrity who said “no”.

Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt has revealed that she turned down the BBC dance contest because she would rather watch TV for the Channel 4 show than learn to tango.

Scarlett told the Daily Star: “I was asked to do Strictly Come Dancing which was pretty cool but I love Gogglebox too much.

“It’s the best and easiest job in the world to sit and watch telly. I would have had to choose between the two and it was a no brainer for me.”

Had Scarlett decided to compete on Strictly, she would no doubt have wiped the floor with her fellow celebs as she was a successful ballroom dancer as a child.

Scarlett, 24, was trained by Strictly’s professional dancer Anton Du Beke when she was a little girl and recently showed off some of her moves on Channel 4’s Celebrity First Dates.

Singer Will Young, Birds of a Feather star Lesley Joseph, ex-Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas and EastEnders’ Tameka Empson are among the celebs rumoured to have signed up to this year’s Strictly, which will return to BBC1 at the end of summer.
