TV presenter Vanessa Feltz is the latest name to be linked with a spot on the Strictly dancefloor, having reportedly signed up to join the series when it returns in the autumn.

According to The Sun Vanessa – who showed off her moves in Let’s Dance for Comic Relief earlier this year – is hoping that a stint on the BBC One show will help her shed the pounds

And a source told the paper that she would make a ‘fabulous’ contestant.

“She is lots of fun and always up for being outrageous, which is just what Strictly needs,” the insider said.

“She has had problems with her weight in the past so this is a brilliant way for her to get fit and have a laugh at the same time.”

Vanessa made a big impact when she appeared on Let’s Dance for Comic Relief, donning a skimpy leotard and tights to recreate Cher’s If I Could Turn Back Time video.

She later said she would ‘like to apologise to my friends, family and society’.

Others tipped to take part in the next series include chart-topper Sophie Ellis-Bextor, model Abbey Crouch, Hairy Biker chef Dave Myers, Desperate Housewives actress Teri Hatcher and former X Factor champion Joe McElderry.

The show will return to BBC One in the autumn.
