The X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing are reportedly waging battle before this year’s series have even begun – as both shows bid to land Celine Dion as a guest.
And according to the Mirror Strictly has won the fight, with the French-Canadian singer due to appear on the show in the run-up to Christmas.
A source told the paper that the BBC were so keen to secure Celine’s services that they are paying all her expenses to get her in the country and on the show.
“It’s been insane,” the insider said. “X Factow wanted contestants to fly out to Las Vegas and sing live. Celine doesn’t tend to do anything like that these days because she’s such a perfectionist with her vocals.
“She always likes pre-recorded performances because she freaks out big time if she ever gets a note wrong.
The source added, “Celine’s taken advice and decided Strictly’s the way forward. They said they’d pick up all her costs and pulled out all the stops to get her on board.
“X factor must be gutted. They thought Celine was one of the secret weapons they could pull in, especially with so many artists unavailable or on down-time between albums.
The X Factor is due to return to screens later this month, while Strictly’s new series will begin in the autumn.
