Simon Cowell has said Victoria Beckham will ‘absolutely not’ be a judge on the US version of The X Factor.

The former Spice Girl was a guest judge on the latest series of American Idol, where she told Simon off for being nasty and her performance was slated by US TV critics.

Asked by OK! magazine if she’d be a part of The X Factor, Simon said: “That’s not going to happen, absolutely not – not because I don’t like her, it’s just not going to happen.”

He added: “In the UK we have 250,000 applicants every year and because there’s no age limit and groups are allowed to enter, you get a lot of applications.

“So we gave ourselves time to set up the show in 2011, which also gives us time to work out who the judging panel is going to be.

“I don’t want to make any commitments just yet. We will make an announcement fairly soon about the judges and when you can start applying to enter the show.”

Asked if Paula Abdul will be a judge on the show, he said: “Look, I adore Paula. Whatever happens, I will be working with her in some capacity because I miss her. So you’re just going to have to watch this space.”
