Returning X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne has confirmed reports that she will only spend one series on the panel of the show.

Speaking ahead of the new series which begins on Saturday night, the 60-year-old explained that she had both professional and personal commitments in the US.

As well as fronting daytime chat show The Talk on US screens, she is also due to become a grandmother once again following the news that her son Jack Osbourne is expecting his second child with wife Lisa Stelly.

“I live in America and I have a show in America that I do every day,” Sharon said. “It’s just the perfect fit for me.

“Last time I left in a very unprofessional way, two weeks before the auditions started and not under good circumstances.”

She added that even if Simon Cowell did ask her to stay she would be unlikely to consider it.

“There are other priorities in my life right now,” Sharon revealed. “I never the luxury of being with my children, all the time – I had to work. But I don’t want to waste those years with my grandkids.”

The X Factor kicks off on ITV on Saturday and Sundat at 8pm.
