Hainan Adventure
EDEN, 6:00pm
Nigel Marven encounters more wildlife in this one episode than you would normally find in an entire series.
He's in Hainan, China's smallest republic and the country's only tropical province, where he follows in the footsteps of 19th-century explorer John Whitehead. First, he visits the region's coral reef, which is eight times the size of Manhattan. Then he swims with five-metre long whale sharks and visits a hospital for turtles. His journey continues with butterflies, bats, monkeys and lizards. It's a place so rich in wildlife, even the gardens of five-star hotels are teeming with exotic creatures.
