A tale of romance and robbers in 1820s Cornwall
Ex-Downton Abbey star Jessica Brown Findlay proves an excellent leading lady in this three-part adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s adventure about shipwreck, survival and romance. After her mother dies, Mary Yellan (Jessica) goes to live with her browbeaten aunt Patience (Joanne Whalley) and creepy uncle Joss (Sean Harris). However, Mary finds out that Joss runs a smuggling ring and soon becomes embroiled in this dangerous world while also falling for Joss’s brother Jem (Matthew McNulty) – will he prove a good guy or a wrong ’un?
