When Julie Walters was offered the role of Labour politician Mo Mowlam in C4’s Sunday night drama, Mo, she feared the physical differences between them would be too great to overcome.
But as this picture shows, the 59-year-old made the ultimate sacrifice to play the brave cancer victim – she shaved off most of her hair!
‘I felt more naked than if I’d had no clothes on,’ admits Julie. ‘I thought I looked like Harry Hill but my husband, Grant, was very sweet.’
‘He said, “You know, it’s quite beautiful, really”.’
Julie’s hair having regrown, she sports a short, spiky look for TV Times‘ exclusive photoshoot.
She’ll soon be swapping it for Mrs Weasley’s bohemian locks to make the final Harry Potter film. ‘I have a wand contest with Helena Bonham Carter; I can’t wait,’ she laughs.
