Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder is searching for UFOs in his new four-part HISTORY series, but if he spots one it won't be the first he's come across!
"I saw a UFO when I was 15," he explains. "I was walking to the bus stop in 1978 and me and this little kid who was off to grammar school, I looked up at the sky as you do, and saw this thing nipping about like this, then Zoom, zoom, zoom and off. It was enough to twist anyone's melon!
"Since that day I've always sort of been interested in them, not a fanatic or anything like that. I like Star Trek... But after I saw that which defied the laws of physics. It was zapping about really big so, yeah, I got interested."
Shaun heads to Chile in this week's first episode and believes that UFO sightings are a strong indication that there is alien life out there somewhere.
"We're not alone in the universe," he says. "The chances of there not being any other life out there somewhere are tiny, so you'd have to be pretty daft to think we're alone!"
But despite his passion for star-gazing, Shaun doesn't think Professor Brian Cox has anything to worry about just yet.
"That bloke's programmes are amazing!" he says. "He knows his stuff though, I'm no expert - just a bit of an enthusiast."
Shaun Ryder on UFOs starts on Sunday, November 10 at 8pm on HISTORY
