Jack and his agents reach the waterfront but their SUV comes under attack from terrorist snipers, led by Ali. While they're pined down, Samir takes the rods across the river by boat and Jack realises they have to warn the NYPD using the call box on a nearby building. But how are they going to reach it?

Meanwhile, arrogant NSA engineer Frank Haynam arrives at CTU to repair the servers, but Chloe becomes exasperated at the time they're taking and offers several suggestions to speed things up. Her advice is ignored, however, until her patience runs out and, following Renee's advice, she pulls a gun on the engineers, locks them out of the server room and gets to work. Hastings' men eventually break in but Chloe manages to convince her boss that she can fix the system quicker and he orders the others out. In no time, Chloe has the system up and running.

Agents King and Owen are dead and Jack orders Cole to run for the phone as he distracts the snipers. But as Jack emerges, he's hit and is about to be finished off by Ali when a shot rings out and the terrorist slumps to the ground - it's Renee! Cole reaches the phone and makes the call.

Back at CTU, Prady confronts Dana, accusing her of hiding Wade. Suddenly Dana attacks him and strangles him with a cable. She hides his body then calls Samir, warning him that CTU is back online! Dana is in league with the terrorists!
