Match Made in Hell

Horatio's team investigate the death of Matthew Shaw who's been torn apart by an alligator in his own pool and soon discover that the reptile had been lured onto the property by someone who knew the gate's access code.

Matthew had belonged to an exclusive matchmaking service run by Tandy King who provides the CSIs with details of the girls he'd dated. One, Kate Pender, doesn't appear for questioning and it's revealed she'd recently slept with Matthew, so Horatio and Tripp track her down to a party held by another high-class matchmaker, Paul Nichols. She's clearly upset but denies having anything to do with Matthew's death.

Delko finds a paper fragment in the pool and Dr Loman retrieves a similar piece from the alligator's stomach. The team also discover that Matthew's hand had been badly burned on an exhaust pipe from a motorcycle owned by Nichols' head of security. He's arrested for torturing Matthew but won't explain why he did it.

Something's going on at Nichols' matchmaking parties, so Ryan attends a party undercover. He approaches Kaste Pender and is shocked to discover she's a prostitute working for Nichols, as are all the other girls there. Ryan searches for incriminating evidence but is discovered and tortured by one of the guards. Luckily Horatio bursts in to save him and Nicholson is swiftly arrested.

Kate confesses that she and Matthew were hoping to marry and had begged Nichols to release her but the heartless pimp had refused and threatened to kill them both. Horatio gives her a break and drops the prostitution charges in return for her testimony against Nichols.

Back in the lab, the recovered paper fragments are revealed to be a torn-up cheque made to Tandy King, who eventually confesses. Matthew's cheque had bounced as he was actually penniless and, enraged at the impact this would have on her reputation, she'd lured the alligator to his pool, getting the gate code from Matthew's dating video.
