William Hurt struggled on the set of Damages says his Emmy award-winning co-star, Glenn Close.
According to Glenn he struggled with the demands of making a fast-paced TV series and will not appear in the third series.
Glenn, who worked with William on the 1983 comedy The Big Chill, told The Times: "He was miserable.
"He was not used to having this short a time to prepare. And then you might have prepared and then go in and have a totally rewritten scene. He found that impossible and difficult."
William plays Danny Purcell, a scientist who becomes a whistleblower to expose an energy company's illicit dealings and has a secret past with Close's character, Patty Hewes.
The Oscar-winning actor admitted that he found the transition from big screen to the small screen a difficult one, but that he trusted the show's producers, Glenn and Todd A. Kessler and their partner Daniel Zelman.
He told the Associated Press: "I'm the least equipped for this of anyone.
"What I'm relying on here, instead of experimentation over a long period of time, is my faith in them... They know what they're doing."
