The series finale finds Kendrick in complacent mood as his new head counsel assures him there's no way the evidence from the stolen SUV will be admissible in court, blissfully labouring under the delusion that Patty plays by the rules. The truth, of course, is that Patty's on the verge of bribing the judge, with FBI informant Ellen only too keen to help her.
After a row with son Michael, however, Patty seems to have a fit of conscience and attempts to nail the unfinished business that is UNR legally β offering Garrity a one-shot get-out-of-jail-free card if he testifies against the energy company. So, to Room 1910 and that confrontation. Ellen finally asks Patty what we all want to know: did she take a contract out on her life? Yes. Does Ellen shoot Patty? No. But there is blood on the carpet. And it is Patty's. Flashback to a suspense-filled elevator scene (surely a nod to Fatal Attraction) where coke-head Garrity knifes the formerly impenetrable Ms Hewes...
