'Julie' gives hints about Housewives five years on

The next season of Desperate Housewives will see some time-travelling changes on Wisteria Lane.

"It's a brand new season coming up. Everyone's five years older now than they were last season. It's just a whole new show, basically," said Andrea Bowen, who plays Susan's daughter, Julie Mayer.

The actress, speaking on the pink carpet for the Sex And The City: The Movie - Extended Cut DVD launch, went on: "It's completely different, we're starting fresh. It's very exciting, so I think everyone has exciting things to look forward to.

"I don't really know what I can tell you. We keep everything pretty hush-hush on the show."

In the UK the remainder of Desperate Housewives series four has just started screening on Channel 4, and British fans will see series five immediately after that.

There have been rumours that the next series will see everyone grown up, with even glam Gabrielle (Eva Longoria Parker) turning into a frumpy, stay-at-home mum.

"Most of that is not real weight anyways, a lot of it is padding," revealed 18-year-old Andrea.

"Everyone's making up big stories about that. They're trying their hardest to make her look bad, but I feel that's almost an impossible job because she's so beautiful.

"She looks completely different this season, though. She's not glamorous Gabrielle like she usually is, she's now a stay-at-home mum, so it gives her a lot to play with. I think people will be really shocked to see what everyone's up to."
