Dollhouse

Dollhouse

The thrilling 13-part second season of the fantasy drama from Fox, continues to follow the adventures of Echo (Eliza Dushku), one of the Dollhouse Actives or Dolls.

Dollhouse is the creation of writer/director Joss Whedon, originator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly, and this season he promises to build on the characters introduced in the first series. The final episode of season 1 (Epitaph One) wasn't screened in the US, so the new series kicks off several months after Alpha's rampage in the episode, Omega.

Actives are people who, for reasons of their own, have allowed their personalities and memories to be wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personae - including memory, skills and language - to enable them to take on different assignments or 'engagements'. Hired by the wealthy and powerful, the Actives wholly become whomever the client wants them to be - whether lover, assassin, negotiator or friend.

But something is wrong with Echo. When not on active service, she's no longer just in a blank state, waiting for her next engagement. More and more, Echo is experiencing flashbacks of her previous personae and is becoming able to access their abilities. And strange things are happening elsewhere in the Dollhouse: Actives are becoming aware and building relationships with each other, and some of the staff don't seem to be on the side of the company. The whiff of betrayal is in the air...
