Meet Jane Doe

Echo, still in her Doll state, is ejected from a food store after a futile attempt to get something to eat, and inadvertently gets a young Hispanic woman, Galena, into trouble with the police. Three months pass and she's now with Ballard, who's training her with the aim of bringing down the Dollhouse. Echo seems able to access the personas she's previously been programmed with and is working as a nurse at a hospital. She arranges to do the rounds at a local prison where she treats Galena - Echo has plans to break her out.

She tells Galena in Spanish that she'll be back the following day and gives her a drug to take in advance of her visit. At the appropriate time Galena collapses and Echo fakes the young woman's death, eventually managing to get her out of the prison and safely back to Ballard's apartment.

Meanwhile, at the LA Dollhouse, a demoted Adelle is working as Harding's assistant, though she desperately wants to regain control. Topher has been working on a project to deactivate Dolls but informs Adelle that he believes Rossum's end game is to build a device that can imprint anyone, without Active architecture in place. Civilians could suddenly be given completely new personalities!

Amazingly, Topher has worked out how to do it and shows Adelle his plans. Later, however, he finds that his plans are missing - Adelle has betrayed him and presented them to Harding to win back her old job!

Ballard and Boyd bring Echo back to the Dollhouse and Ballard explains to a reinstated Adelle that the Active is suffering extreme headaches. But Adelle won't allow Topher to treat her, and places her in isolation for monitoring instead.
