A quick chat with Fringe's Anna Torv
The Fringe actress talks accents, Leonard Nimoy and The Pacific...

Olivia and Peter (Joshua Jackson) seem to be getting closer. Are they ever going to get together?
"I think they’re good mates at the moment and I don’t know if that’s what either of them want. I would love Olivia to lighten up a little bit. She’s just so connected to the job."

What was it like working with Star Trek legend Leonard Nimoy, who plays Walter’s former collaborator William Bell?
"He’s an extraordinarily graceful and gracious man. There’s something quite beautiful about his presence. I hope we get to see more of him."

You’re Australian, but Olivia is American and before that you played a British photographer in Mistresses. Do you find accents easy?
"I didn’t do an accent for Mistresses. I just made it neutral, as opposed to sounding so Australian. But Olivia is meant to be very straight-down-the-line American, so we have a dialect coach. You get into the rhythm and it becomes easier if you’re working with people who have the same accent."

Your husband and former Fringe co-star Mark Valley is the lead in the upcoming action series Human Target. Do you ever get to see each other?
"Not really, but at least both our shows are filmed in Vancouver."

Tell us about your next role in Sky’s forthcoming World War II drama The Pacific
"I play a movie star trying to raise money for the war effort who has an affair with a US Marine. But then he has to go back to war. It’s sad, but very beautiful."

How do you stay in shape?
"I do lots of yoga. I try to exercise at least four times a week – always on the weekend. I didn’t do it for a while and I felt so lethargic, so now I just make the effort. It gives you more energy."
