Anna Torv: Sometimes I wish I was in a cosy drama!
05/10/2010 - 15:11

Aussie Fringe star Anna Torv says there are times she wishes she was back in a cosy Australian drama, but only at 3am!
Before the hit US series of Fringe screened in 2008, Anna, 32, was best known for the 20-somethings drama The Secret Lives of Us.
Now Anna is the female lead in the highly successful Fox TV show Fringe, solving mysterious cases of paranormal activity as FBI agent Olivia Dunham.
Talking to USA Today during a break from filming the new series, Anna says she sometimes wishes she wasn't battling mysterious phenomena on a daily basis.
"Sometimes at 3 in the morning when we're still shooting outside in the rain, running around and blowing things up, I want that scene where I'm on the couch with a cup of cocoa, going, 'Sure, if you just call him, he'll...' But really, only at 3 in the morning."
Fringe series three sees Anna playing both her character Olivia Dunham and her evil doppelganger from an alternate universe, known as Bolivia.
"It gets kind of confusing keeping track," she says, "but I'm excited to see what happens.
"We're kept in the dark until we get our scripts. You can see little things getting layered in a little bit more maybe than people who are just watching, but everything's a big surprise.
"I would always love to know more, but then there's something nice about it unfolding in front of you too".
Anna kicks off series three in style when her evil alter-ego leaves the real Olivia in the parallel universe while she travels to the real world.
"I think it's an extrememly cool idea to have these parallel characters. I don't think you could do that in any other genre."
Speaking at Comic Con this year, Anna said season three will be the most fun.
"I'm super excited this season more so than I was at the begining of season two actually. I feel like last year we found our feet, I think we found our groove, the scripts were great, the stories were awesome, but this year things are a little bit easier so therefore you get to enjoy it a bit more.
"We've got a really loose set which is nice, everyone chills with everyone. I love the crew and the cameraguys, it's great.
"The first two seasons you're just trying to keep up, but now it's like, 'Yeah this is great, hi, welcome back, what are we doing today?' There's a real joy about it."
